Review: Written with You (The Regret Duet #2) by Aly Martinez

Now available on

Synopsis:

When I was fifteen, a single bullet changed my life. I spent the next decade trying to outrun the devastation of my past, building an empire that would shield me from whatever life could throw at me.

But all the money in the world couldn’t help me when I found a screaming newborn abandoned on my doorstep.

I’d never wanted to be a father. Passing the sludge that ran through my veins down to an innocent child seemed like a tragedy. But there she was—pink cheeks, red hair, and mine.

Somehow, against all logic, that little girl became the best thing that ever happened to me. It was impossible to stay lost in the past when I was the only one who could protect her future.

Which is exactly why, when her mother came back four years later, I was ready for battle.

If only I could stop myself from falling in love with her during the war.

Review:

Written with You was so worth the wait! I read the first one before this was out and man that ending was killing me! I wanted to see what would happen next. I knew there would be some rough parts and some things still left to be resolved, maybe a few surprises along the way, but oh I loved the characters and wanted everything to work out for them. They have both been through enough already I wanted something good and kind and wonderful for them. I wanted them to be happy.

I love the way this author writes a story. While you know going in some of the big revelations since they were revealed at the end of the first book, but she still had some surprises up her sleeve! Oh, this story sucked me in, made my heart hurt for these people who are trying to figure everything out, and there were more ups and heart-stopping downs that I expected. It was a great read and I couldn't put it down once I started. This is a continuation of Hadley and Caven's story and I loved every minute of it.

I loved Caven in the first book and I still loved him here. He would do anything for his daughter. Anything to keep her safe or make her happy or whatever she needs. And that is hard because sometimes she wants things that are difficult for him, but things she should still have regardless of how he feels. I loved that he put her first and did the right thing. Even when it hurt him. Even when he didn't want to. He is a great guy and such a wonderful dad. He also has a huge heart and he has a lot of things to try and straighten out in his head before he can move on and get his happily ever after.

Hadley is also pretty great. She is naturally kind and caring and will do anything for those she loves. She makes mistakes sometimes, just like everyone, but she owns up to them. She was wonderful and my heart hurt so much for her. She has been through so much and I wanted her to get her happily ever after so so much. If anyone deserves it it is these two.

I can't really say much more without spoiling something which I definitely don't want to do. This book was a great read and these two were so cute together. Add in Rosie Posie and I was done. The story is not always sunshine and roses, but life is like that. These two are always making the impossible possible and I was so happy for them.

About the Author:

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and olives. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
