Blog Tour: The Truth About Us (The Truth Duet #2) by Aly Martinez
Now Available on
Synopsis:
Truth: Penn Walker entered my life like a summer storm—dark, ominous, and filled with thunder.
After witnessing my husband’s murder, I didn’t have much of a heart left to offer a man.
But Penn took it all.
Every jagged shard.
Every broken bit.
Even the dirty and twisted pieces that I wish never existed.
Lie: I didn’t need him to save me.
Lie: I knew exactly who he was.
Lie: Losing him wouldn’t destroy me.
But that’s the thing about lies—you never know who to believe.
Review:
The Truth About Us was even better than I had hoped it would be! I really couldn't put it down from the minute I started reading. I mean I had to see what happened. Note: This is not a standalone story. This is the continuation of the story that started in The Truth About Lies. You have to read that book first or you will be lost.
Man Cora and Penn are amazing together. You know going in that things are going to be a bit rocky and it will take a lot to get them back together, but oh it was worth it. The last book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and I still had some questions as to what exactly was going on, but they were all answered. Cora is trying to figure out how to keep going with her new reality and Penn has some vengeance still to dole out. That and the kids to take care of and the other people to keep safe, it is a lot. But they can handle it.
I absolutely loved when Cora and Penn saw each other again. The emotions and how expressive Cora was with what she thought and felt was awesome. Cause I was right there with her. I got why Penn thought he should do what he did, but Cora is a big girl. She can make her own decisions. You don't have to decide for her. She is so strong. I mean she has lived this long in her nightmare of a situation and she will keep on living. She has people to live for. People to protect and keep safe. So while Penn might be all big tough man need to protect my lady, she doesn't need it. She can handle it.
When everything came out, when Cora finally finds out everything, oh my heart hurt for her. Because it is a lot to take in. A lot to try and deal with while you are already in a stressful situation. While you already have a lot to deal with. But again Cora is amazing. So strong and resilient. She has not had the best of lives thus far, but sometimes, if you have a little hope and a little luck, sometimes things can change for the better. She has one of the biggest hearts and I loved how she cared for all her girls. She was amazing and I was happy to see her so happy with Penn. His heart was in the right place the whole time, but he had his own dark past to deal with and that definitely made him more protective of her.
Overall this was a great read. I loved how everything ended up, how they figured everything out, more than I thought I would. I thought it would be great, but it was amazing. A new favorite read for sure. These two and everyone else we meet along the way...I loved reading them. I'm just sad it is over.

About the Author:
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children. Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person. She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
