Hard to Hold on To (Hard Ink #2.5) by Laura Kaye

Available on

Synopsis:

Edward "Easy" Cantrell knows better than most the pain of not being able to save those he loves--which is why he is not going to let Jenna Dean out of his sight. He may have just met her, but Jenna's the first person to make him feel alive since that devastating day in the desert more than a year ago.

Jenna has never met anyone like Easy. She can't describe how he makes her feel--and not just because he saved her life. No, the stirrings inside her reach far beyond gratitude.

As the pair are thrust together while chaos reigns around them, they both know one thing: the things in life most worth having are the hardest to hold on to.

Review:

I started reading Hard to Hold on To and thought it would probably be a fun, quick read but not my favorite thus far. I mean Easy and Jenna falling for each other...great, but I didn't really know either of them well enough from the prior books to already love them and want them to be together. I expected it to be a good story, but was reading it to get to the next book and see what happens.

Only when I started reading I realized how incredibly wrong I was. Instantly I loved Easy and Jenna together. Like love loved them together. Jenna was just saved from some pretty horrible things that could have happened and is a bit...unsteady. I mean she just was saved so she has some things to try and work through. And Easy has his own demons to fight after what happened before his not so honorable discharge. But with each other their problems are not quite as scary as they are when they are alone. Jenna instantly feels safe with Easy. She was drawn to him when she first met him, but now that he saved her life he calms her. She wants to be with him, but he has some things to work through himself. Some things he thinks will make her not want to be with him. That he is not a good person. Oh, I loved this story so so much. It is a quicker read than the other books, but I was surprised to find that it is my favorite thus far. Easy and Jenna were just perfect together. I loved their story.
