Synopsis:

For years, Deanna's eccentric grandmother has been trying to marry her off to a rich man, and she's finally managed to do it. Deanna has spent her life trying to take care of those she loves, and a six-month marriage should be a simple enough way to keep their historic Savannah house from falling down around their heads.

Sexy, obnoxious Mitchell Graves needs a wife to finalize a business deal, and he snaps up Deanna as the most expedient option. Because she's quiet, he thinks she'll be easy enough to manage as a wife.

He couldn't be more wrong.

Review:

Hired Bride was a fun, quick, light read which was just what I wanted when I picked it up. I just wanted a fun summer read and that is what I got.

Deanna's grandmother has been trying to fix her up with a rich guy to marry. A guy who will have enough money to give them so they can fix up their giant house that is falling apart. Her grandmother is very much into tradition and keeping the past and their heritage alive, but they simply can't afford the upkeep on their old place. Deanna doesn't mind that much, she does whatever her grandmother wants to try and keep the peace, but she doesn't think she would just marry someone just because she said so. She would put her foot down if it was really necessary, but not for something that doesn't matter in the long run. So she dresses up and goes to balls and everything just to make her grandmother happy.

Mitchell doesn't believe in marriage. He doesn't understand why anyone would get married. Why not just be with someone until you don't want to be then move on? Though when he gets cornered during a business deal he needs a fiancee and fast. And Deanna is the one who most recently caught his eye, so he wants it to be her. Plus she seems like she would be easy to control and get to do whatever he wanted which would make their fake marriage more pleasant. After all he doesn't like to work hard for things. He likes the easy way.

When the business deal is arranged they both agree to a 6 month marriage with Deanna getting money to fix up the house and Mitchell getting his business deal. Only how they both saw the other isn't matching up once they start living together. Deanna is not the pushover Mitchell thought, and Mitchell isn't as heartless and horrible as Deanna thought. It was fun watching them get to know each other and figure out how to make this work. Of course more feelings come into it than either anticipated and it was cute seeing them both fall for the other. I will say at times reading Mitchell was slightly annoying as he just kept saying how he wanted to have sex with Deanna so much, even once he started to care for her he was just like all about having sex in a way that was not the best for me. Like I get it, but...it was a bit off for me at times. Still overall it was a fun, sweet, quick read.
