Synopsis:

Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

Review:

Cage was an entertaining read. It is light and quick and fun. If you have read Axel already then you met Greg Cage in that story. He is one of those guys who blames himself for not keeping people in his life safe if something happens to them. He couldn't save his sister from her abusive husband, and he couldn't save the next lady that guy got his hooks in. He blames himself for not being there, for not protecting them. Though he has been trying to move on and not hold onto the guilt especially as he has been keeping Izzy safe. Only now she is married with a child and really happy so he doesn't have someone to worry over as much.

Melissa knows a thing or two about blaming yourself for things. Her sister was killed by her abusive husband and now it is up to her to keep the rest of her family together. She takes care of her mom and nephew and is just determined to be a rock all by herself. She doesn't need or want anyone else as she knows how men can change. They can seem perfect and then something happens and you wind up dead.

When Greg is asked to take Izzy's son to the doctor for her as she is going a bit crazy getting ready for her wedding he of course jumps right in. They are family and he would do anything for family. When he sees Melissa at the doctors office he knows she is someone he wants to spend more time with. He knows she could be the one and he is ready to fight for what he wants.

Melissa is just as affected by Greg, but she doesn't want to be. She tries to stay away and it was fun watching her try and evade him. They were cute and hot and awesome together. Of course they work everything out, but Greg still keeps some things from her which could cause some problems later. Also his "ex" is seriously crazy and you know she will cause too much drama.

Overall it was a fun read, though everything happened too quickly. Like Melissa told herself she needed to stay away from Greg, but then almost instantly changed her mind and was just like I need him! Things happen, but it was just too quick and easy to work everything out. I don't know. I liked the book, I am planning on reading the next one, but because of how everything happened instantly it just was good, not great. So if you are looking for a light, easy, fun read this is a good choice.
