Synopsis:

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn't look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision--a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

Review:

Have you ever read a story that just wraps you up so completely in its world that you instantly fall in love with it? One where you know things are going to take a turn, where you love the characters so much so quickly you are afraid to see where this will go? Where you know your heart is going to break into a million pieces before it will hopefully be put back together again? Well that was The Fire Between High and Lo. Everything was so amazing, so sweet, so wonderful, but you knew it couldn't last. You knew these two broken people would somehow have to overcome even more, be put through more pain, before they will get their happily ever after.

Oh, in such a short amount of time I completely fell in love with this story and these characters. I wanted to keep reading and dreaded it at the same time. These characters just wormed their way into my heart and I just wanted to protect them from everything that would come. I wanted things to just work out and have them be happy. I wanted it all, but knew I would have to go through some pretty rough times to get there. Really right from the beginning it was tearing me apart.

Man this story. The end just had me tearing up. Throughout the whole thing I wanted the world for Lo & Aly. I wanted them to figure out how to be happy. Or really for Logan to figure out how to leave his past behind and move on. How to be a better person, the person Alyssa needs and deserves. She loves him so much, but he definitely needed to grow some before they could really be together. With everything that happened, with all the ups and the downs, they were still there for each other. It was hard to read at times, it was heartbreaking and beautiful and everything all wrapped up into one amazing story. I loved it. I loved every minute of it even when I was dreading what would happen next. These two souls are so perfect for each other. Alyssa is amazing. She is such a sweetheart. She sees more in Logan that he will ever see and she knows how amazing he is. She can't help it though. It is like their souls are intertwined. Like they are meant to be.

And for as much as Logan messes up, for as much as he makes poor decisions and gets out of control, he was simply wonderful. I understand why everyone in his life keeps giving him more chances. You see him trying, you see him struggling, but you see him preserver.  Oh what a wonderful read.
