Synopsis:

Ellie Anthony isn’t looking for love. She isn’t even looking for a man, but when Jax Mayson insists on keeping her and her daughter safe, she’s left with no choice but to trust him. Now she just hopes she doesn’t get hurt when she falls hard for a guy who’s known for breaking hearts.

Jax Mayson knows that Ellie is his BOOM the moment he sees her. When he finds out she has a daughter, he realizes he wants a family, and he will do whatever is necessary to keep both of his girls safe, even if that means facing the demons from his past.

Review:

I am so glad Aurora Rose Reynolds started writing these Until series spin off books. I love the original books and it is so much fun getting to see those characters again and seeing them as parents watching their children find their boom. I just love it. And all of the kids are just as amazing as their parents so...I just love the Mayson clan!

Until Jax is the story of Cash and Lilly's son Jax. He always heard about the boom - when you see the one for you you just instantly know it. All the kids kind of think it is an old wives tale, but Jax has always kind of wanted it to happen to him. After all he sees how all of the parents are together and he wants that. He wants that one person that he can love and care about with his whole heart. He is a sweetheart.

Ellie did not even know what she was getting into when she meets Jax and the Mayson clan. She was just pulled from a horrible situation (if you have read Until July you know a little bit about that) and she has never really had that family that she wants. She has her daughter, Hope, but the rest of her family, at least those who cared about her, are gone. She is not used to trusting people and counting on them for things as she has always had to try and survive by herself. She has always had to provide for Hope by herself. When things go down and Jax knows Ellie is his boom he does whatever he can to move Ellie and Hope to his town. They can even stay with him while she looks for a place to stay. Not that he is going to let them leave...

When Jax finds out Ellie has a daughter at first he is shocked, but it doesn't really matter to him. Ellie is who he wants and he will love her daughter as well. When he meets Hope he instantly falls for her as well. Hope is so dang cute! She wraps Jax around her little finger and gets away with everything. It was so sweet.

"'Are you tired, Angel?' I asked...
'No, my eyes are just wazy.'"

Hope is so adorable! Watching Jax take to her and be this amazing father was so much fun. You can just see how much he cares about both of these ladies and I loved it.

Ellie doesn't know how to trust people and she fears if she lets Jax in he will leave and then she will have to try and survive by herself again. She tries not to get her hopes up as everything has been taken away from her in the past, but how can she resist Jax especially when he is so adamant that this is going to happen. That they are going to get to know each other and date and live happily ever after. She still has a hard time really opening up especially when his past keeps trying to ruin things. She is very insecure, but Jax will do whatever he can to reassure her and keep her and Hope safe. He does push her, but she needs it. You can see how much he cares about her and doesn't want her fears to ruin what they have.

"I know this is one of those moments my grandmother told me about, one of the moments when you either have to push your fears aside or let them swallow you whole."

Ellie, Jax and Hope just make such a cute family. I love that he is just as alpha male as his dad and uncles. I also love that they have such similar situations, but at the same time they are very different. He can relate a lot to what she has gone through and her situation and everything just clicked. It was like these two are meant to be! And Lilly is such a sweetheart with Ellie. I love that Ellie gets this whole other family, the family she has always wanted. These two are just so perfect for each other. They don't always have it easy with Ellie's insecurities and unresolved past, but together they can get through it. If you enjoyed the Until series then you will not want to miss this book. Such a great read.

Except:

“Thank you again for taking me.” Pulling my eyes from the road for a brief moment, I look at Ellie. Her head is resting against the window, her legs pulled up onto the seat, tucked near her ass, and her arms are wrapped tight around them. One thing I’ve noticed about her over the last few hours is she’s always wrapping her arms around herself or tucking her body into a tight ball. It’s like she’s forcing herself to stay together.
“I told you I got you, baby,” I say gently, wanting more than anything to take her hand in mine, but every time I touch her, she freezes up like she’s waiting for me to strike out at her, and I would be lying if I said that didn’t piss me the fuck off. It does; it feels like a slap in the face every time it happens.
“I know,” she whispers, and the tears I hear in her voice cause a sharp pain in my chest.
Fuck.
“This is the turnoff.” Her feet go to the floorboard and her hands to the dash as she sits up taller, moving her face closer to the windshield. We drive up a long dirt driveway with forest and the occasional broken down car on each side. When we make it to the top of the hill, a singlewide trailer comes into view, with junk cars and garbage piled up out front.
As soon as I come to a stop, she opens her door and hops out before I can tell her to keep her little ass in the cab. I don’t even know how I’m going to deal with the range of emotions that have settled over me since seeing her for the first time.
“Fucking Boom,” I mutter, getting out behind her and doubling my steps until I’m able to reach her side, where I wrap my hand around her waist and pull her closer to me. She’s so fucking tiny that the top of her dark head sits right at my chest. So fragile, from her too soft skin to her petite size. And she’s mine.
