Seducing the Enemy (Heirs of Damon Book 1)

Synopsis:

After being injured in a tragic accident as a child, Marietta Edwards has lived a sheltered life. Finally recovered, she wants to indulge in pleasures that are entirely new to her, so she begins by seducing a sexy, mysterious stranger. Only after their one-night stand does she learn their families have been embroiled in a fifteen-year legal battle and the man she’s given herself to is her worst enemy.

The heir to a vast fortune, Harrison Damon believes the unforgettable night he spent with Marietta in Monte Carlo is just a fling, an escape from his responsibilities. Then he discovers she is an Edwards—the family he despises most. He can’t quench his attraction for her, but he won’t let her use it against him. He won’t let her manipulate him to win money from his family. No matter how much he wants her, he won’t let her seduce him again.

Review:

After reading Playing the Playboy and finding it just not as good as the last two book (but still fun) I was kind of hesitant to start reading Seducing the Enemy. I thought maybe this would be one of those situations where the books get better as they go so I didn't have high hopes for this one. Fortunately that was not the case. I loved Seducing the Enemy! Marietta and Harrison were so much fun to read!

Marietta has had a sheltered life. She only recently started to walk again after being confined to a wheelchair following an accident as a child. When she was in the wheelchair she always dreamed of what she would do when she could walk again and she was kind of fearless. Since being able to walk she is more hesitant with her life and not really living it to the fullest. Her friend gets her to go out one night and try to pick up a guy and just have some fun.

When she gets to the club she accidentally trips over Harrison. Harrison is there working and he is used to girls pretending to fall all over him to get closer to him. He is a Damon after all and he knows all too well how some women will lie and wiggle their way into his life just to get closer to his money. After all he had an ex fiance do just that so he is very protective of his heart now.

Marietta and Harrison spend one amazing night together and they both leave thinking that maybe they will see each other again. Neither of them knows who the other is. Harrison doesn't know she is the girl who was in the car accident so many years ago. The girl who's family has been in a legal battle with his own since then. When he finds out he is not happy. He immediately suspects Marietta is just like his ex - a conniving girl trying to get to him and hurt his family.

This story is so much fun to read. Marietta is obviously just a super sweet girl who really likes Harrison. And Harrison? He has been burned before so he is way overly cautious and untrusting. Deep down he knows Marietta is not evil, but getting to the point where he will admit that? Oh fun times. They are thrown together more and more and eventually they cannot resist. Only Harrison still has some issues to work out, some issues with his family and his responsibilities. You just want to yell at him at times to stop being so stupid and such a doormat, but you can't help but love him at the same time. It was so sweet watching the two of them try and work everything out. It was great seeing how much Harrison helped Marietta with some of her issues and how much he genuinely cared for her. Such a great read.
