Review:

Proof by Seduction is good read, but it is almost too sexy for this kind of book for me. I don't like my old timey romances with lots of sexy time, and this one definitely had that. Honestly if this were my first introduction to this author it probably would have taken me longer to read the rest of her books. I wouldn't have been like must read them all now!! Like I was after reading The Duchess War. Really what saved this book for me is the storyline was fun and the characters I really enjoyed reading. It was just too much sexy time or leading up to it or whatnot for me for this kind of story.

Jenny is a fortune teller. She has never had much and needed to find a way to make a living that wasn't on her back. So fortune teller it is since she is good at encouraging people to be their best self. Besides she learned early on that everyone lies so why not make money off of it?

Gareth is a very scientific minded person. If something cannot be explained by science it is obviously not true. He has a very cold demeanor and he keeps himself removed from other people. He doesn't have any friends and he is always scowling at people, yelling, or just making them feel bad. When he finds out his cousin is seeing a fortune teller he is not happy. He wants to prove that she is a fake so his cousin will stop listening to her. He doesn't stop to listen to Jenny and what she tells him. He doesn't understand that she only tells his cousin things that he needs to hear. Things that make his cousin believe that the future is hopeful and in doing so helps him be a better, more confident person. He doesn't understand that if he ruins Jenny then he will ruin his cousin as well.

Jenny has heard a lot about the awful Gareth from his cousin. She feels like his cousin is family and she wants nothing but the best for him. When Gareth storms in and starts trying to scientifically prove she is a fake he thinks it will be easy to do. He does not expect Jenny to be so intelligent and on top of it. He doesn't expect her to be up for the challenge and maybe even outwit him! Oh it was fun.

Almost from the start there is chemistry between the two of them. Gareth can't seem to help himself when Jenny is around which is so strange for him. He doesn't know what being in love is like and he can't study it like he normally would. He was so cute! Jenny tells him he has three tasks to do before this one event where he will see the woman he is going to marry. These tasks help Gareth come out of his shell some and help him become a better person. He tries to make a friend which was just adorable to watch! You just feel for Gareth since he is so not good at it. He has shut himself off from others for so long he doesn't really know what to do. Jenny is such a good influence on Gareth.

Jenny is such a good person even if she takes peoples money as a fake fortune teller. When Gareth starts calling her out on how wrong it is Jenny can no longer pretend that she is doing something that is okay. She tries to change and stop, but what else is she to do? She doesn't want to be a mistress, even for Gareth, and she won't take his handouts. She needs a way to make money and it is kind of sad watching her struggle. I get it, but I just wanted her to be happy and fun like she was. Really by the time Gareth came in her fortune teller persona was starting to wear on her anyways so it worked out. Lots of bumps in the road for these two, but everything works out in the end. A good read even if there was a lot of sexy time.
