Winning Appeal (Lawyers in Love #4) by N.M. Silber

Winning Appeal: A Lawyers in Love Novella

Synopsis:

Once upon a time, a good girl who wanted to be naughty, met a naughty boy who wanted to be good...

Beth Pierce, is the Director of Fundraising for her older brother's new legal non-profit. She spends her weekends fighting off lecherous men at charity galas and her weekdays trying to hide her attraction for a certain sexy young attorney in her office.

Mark Patterson, is the object of Beth's desire. He spends his weekends having casual encounters with women and his weekdays trying not to think about how gorgeous, smart, and sexy Beth is. Because not only is Beth his colleague, she's the younger sister of one of his closest friends.

When Mark is assigned to escort Beth to those weekend galas, they both quickly realize that things could get very interesting. Will Beth be as naughty as she would like to be? Can Mark be as good as he wants to be? Even if they give in to their desire for each other, how can they risk romance when so much is at stake?

Review:

I was really looking forward to reading Winning Appeal. From the teasers and snippets I read before it came out it sounded like it would be so much fun! Beth and Mark just seemed like they would be great and it would be fun watching them get together.

Well I started this and unfortunately was a bit disappointed. It didn't really feel like there was much to the story. The cute getting together was really short, then they were together and had a super short zany adventure the end. It just...there just wasn't much to the story. I knew it was a shorter read, but that should be fine. It...I just wanted more of Beth and Mark and their kind of awkward situations. I wanted more for the story instead of two seconds of them not together, two seconds of them getting together, then two seconds of fun before the end. I was just a bit disappointed in it.

The other thing I didn't like was that it was written like it already happened. It was just like Beth and Mark telling the story of how they got together. This made for some oddness for me, especially with the sexy times. It just didn't work for me. Oh well, maybe I will enjoy the next one more.
