Ricochet (Renegades #3) by Skye Jordan

Ricochet (Renegades, Book 3)

Synopsis:

After a tragic incident in Afghanistan leaves Master Sergeant Nathan Ryker the only man standing in his tight-knit team, he spirals into an alcohol-and-sex induced escape. A call from his lifelong buddy pulls Ryker from the shadows with a request for help with his stunt company’s latest blockbuster. If Ryker can survive the next three weeks of leave and get back to his remaining men, he might just be all right. But a sexy woman who can take his mind off his trauma is too hard to resist, and when he hooks up with Renegades’ sultry, snarky office manager, his sanity takes a backseat to his first glimpse of a future he isn’t sure he deserves.

Still reeling from a bitter romantic betrayal, Rachel Hart wants nothing more than an uncomplicated hookup. So when the mysterious Nathan seduces her with a little dirty talk and one delicious kiss, Rachel drowns all her good sense in a Mandarin and soda and gives herself over to a night of sexual bliss. But her memories tarnish in the morning light when Rachel discovers his real identity and his link to Renegades. Her job and her friends are the only thing holding her life together, and she won’t be ruined by one sultry night with this damaged and dangerously sexy man.

Review:

So last year I read and loved both Reckless and Rebel by Skye Jordan. When I was writing up my favorites list at the end of the year I checked to see if she had any other books I should read and I saw Ricochet. Somehow I missed it when I read the other two! How? I have no idea. Where Reckless you could just feel all the love and Rebel was incredibly hot, Ricochet was like a combination of both for me. I loved Nathan and Rachel. I loved how wonderful they were with each other. I loved how super hot they were together as well! They were amazing and this was another great read by this great author.

Rachel is still dealing with some issues with her family and how things ended with an ex. She is trying to be more free and non committal, have one night stands and whatnot, but it just doesn't work for her. She is a commitment type of person really.

Ryker aka Nathan has his own issues to deal with. He is in the states to get his head back together after something that happened in Afghanistan. He has some PTSD and issues from being over there so long and all of the things he has seen and been a part of. He blames himself for a lot of things, and when he sees Rachel for the first time she intrigues him. He usually sleeps his way through women, but Rachel is different. She soothes him and they just work. They both don't want attachments, but they can't help but form them. It is scary and painful at times, but they work things out.

Right from that first night, which was hot, it was also sweet. You could see how perfect these two were together. They have that easy camaraderie like they have known each other forever instead of just hours. They just work. This isn't a love at first sight book. This is a hot, slowly turns into something more kind of story. Nathan and Rachel are just wonderful. They both have issues to work through, but they both help each other with those issues. Rachel is such a nurturer and she just can't help but want to be there for Nathan. It is just a really sweet read, a bit bumpy at times, but so nice when you get to that happily ever after. You are just so happy that everything worked out for them as they both deserve to be together. A great, great read.
