Maybe Not: A Novella by Colleen Hoover

Maybe Not: A Novella

Synopsis:

Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Review:

Maybe Not was a great little read. It is long enough that the story feels complete and it was just a lot of fun. Warren and Bridgette are so strange, yet so great together. They don't really seem like they should work, but they do.

I read Maybe Someday awhile ago and I didn't remember who Warren or Bridgette were right away. This story starts shortly before that one and you get to see a little bit of that story woven into this one.  Once I read a few pages I remembered them and it was nice to see their whole story. Bridgette has not had the best childhood and she can come off as very mean and angry, but that just draws Warren to her. He is attracted to her, but her horrible attitude gets to him. He slowly starts to see how Bridgette is  just using that as a shield and he learns to read her and what she wants/needs. She doesn't want to get close to him, yet she does so she tries to drive him away. It doesn't work. From the start they don't have a normal relationship, but it works for them. Warren is great with Bridgette and Bridgette does open up a bit to him. She is still rough around the edges, but Warren loves that and it was just a really great read.
