Holiday Heat
Synopsis:
After being hit with heartbreaking tragedy, Carrie has thrown herself into a hot, secret relationship with Matt. With Christmas approaching, she realizes she might want even more from her sexy, damaged artist, but the boundaries around their relationship make anything deeper than sex impossible.
Matt was the rising star of the art world, but he hasn't painted since a tragic accident two years ago. His passion for Carrie finally inspires him, but first he must convince her that the heat between them is far more than just sex.
Review:
After reading Married for Christmas I looked to see what else the author had written. I found Holiday Heat, another Christmas themed story that I was really excited to read. Woah this was a hot one. This was a lot different from Married for Christmas, but I still loved it!
Carrie has kind of shut herself off from everything and everyone following a tragedy. She just doesn't know how she can live the life she had planned without the person she had planned it with. She is doing alright, but not really living. She goes to a support group, but is not really ready to start trying to move on.
Matt is a famous artist and had his own tragedies in the past. He is not really living either. He has been in seclusion for two years and hasn't created art in that time either. When he shows up to Carrie's support group one night she instantly recognizes him once she sees his face. She was an art history major and knew his work. Matt approaches her later, at the coffee shop where she works, to see if she would be interested in starting an affair with him. Just sex really as he is broken and wouldn't be good for anyone else. Their shared loss helps bond them, but Carrie really doesn't want it to go any farther than hot sex. She always picks a sleazy motel for them to meet at and they never do anything else. No dinner or hanging out in public or at each others place.
This goes on for a while until Matt starts pushing for more. He never says anything, but he knows they could have more. He has been able to start healing and he wants to be with Carrie. She is also on her way to recovery, living when she is with Matt more than she has been. Matt goes about everything perfectly. He never really pushes Carrie too much, but he just happens to be where she will be sometimes and things like that. It was written in a really great way. He doesn't make her agree to go do things with him, but when he shows up she is happy to have him around. They slowly start to have more of a real relationship and it is awesome. They are really great for each other and because of their similar pasts they can help each other. They are sweet and hot and amazing together. Another great holiday read.
