Reckless (Renegades #1) by Skye Jordan

Reckless (Renegades, Book 1)

Synopsis:

A couture wedding dress designer to the rich and famous, Lexi LaCroix’s image means everything. But crossing paths with a sexier-than-sin, bad-boy biker makes Lexi realize how much living she’s sacrificed for her success and one touch is all it takes to threaten her carefully choreographed life. When that touch fills far more than just Lexi’s physical needs, she finds herself torn between the career she needs and the bad-boy she craves.

Jax Chamberlin gave up the superficial life of acting for the thrill of running his own stunt company years ago. But a recent betrayal proves he’s still too close to the limelight to find a woman who doesn’t plan to use him as a stepping-stone to success. When the charming and mysterious Lexi offers him a totally anonymous hook-up during an out of town trip, Jax accepts. Only Lexi is more sextacular than charming, and Jax wants more.

But Lexi’s got a major hang-up over his renegade lifestyle, and Jax isn’t willing to change his ways. Especially not when he discovers who she really is. Because if she finds out his connections could catapult her to the top of her career, he’s afraid the fantasy woman he’s falling for might just end up like all the other gold-diggers. And this time, it’s not just his bad-boy reputation at risk, but his heart, too.

Review:

I love when I find a book that I think will just be a light fluff summer read and it turns out to be amazing. Reckless was one of those books for me. I started it late last night and loved it from the get go.

Jax and Lexi are both very similar. They both have issues trusting people. They both have had people hurt them in the past. They both have insecurities and issues to work through, but right from the start they are so good for each other. From the moment they see each other at the airport there is something there. This is not a insta-love story, even though it kind of it. The characters don't realize it, but you can feel the love between them from the start.

Jax has dated lots of not so good women. Women who use him for his connections or what he can do for them. The last one was the worst. She slept with him then used what she learned to screw him out of a job (he works and runs stuntman in Hollywood). His friend and coworker keeps telling him he needs to find a nice woman, not these users he keeps sleeping with.

Lexi has always been careful, and has had to be careful her whole life. She is a high end wedding dress designer. She cannot be seen to have anything negative associated with her. Her clients are the rich and famous and won't work with someone with blemishes on their record. She has to stay on the up and up. She also is used to guys only wanting her for how she looks. She used to be a model and knows that guy like to have her on their arm to show her off. When she broke up with the last guy he tried to take her business down in retaliation, so she has been weary of that ever since.

When Lexi and Jax see each other outside the airport when they are both headed to New York there is something there. Jax tires to ignore it, and Lexi puts on her 'disguise' so people in the airport won't stare. Lexi happens to be testing some app for her bff that let's her see everyone's cell phone number, and she can write them or call them without the other person knowing who she is (yeah yeah, sounds crazy and like not a good idea at all to test out on random people, but I just pushed that aside as it got me to where I wanted to be). She starts texting Jax and their text back and forth are so cute. Even without them knowing who the other person really is they are great. Their texts were flirt and hot and cute and fun. I loved it. I wanted more. You could feel the connection even then.

Luckily they flirt back and forth enough that Lexi decides to go a little wild and hook up with Jax. From the first moment they met in person (in the dark so Lexi doesn't freak out as much - Jax can't even really see Lexi) you can feel the love between them. I really felt like their physical relationship was all making love, not just sex. Even with the hot and fast there was still this love between them (even though neither person realized it). The whole book just wrapped me up in this cocoon of love and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It wasn't easy, they both had issues to work through, but they made it work eventually. Lexi needs to learn to let go, to be herself and take some risks. Jax needs to learn to trust Lexi and not put his insecurities from his family onto her. they both need each other. I really loved this story. They were so sweet and cute and wonderful together. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Hopefully it will be just as good.
