Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins

Until There Was You

Synopsis:

Posey Osterhagen can't complain. She owns a successful architectural salvaging company, she's surrounded by her lovable, if off-center, family and she has a boyfriend—sort of. Still, something's missing. Something tall, brooding and criminally good-looking—something like Liam Murphy.

When Posey was sixteen, the bad boy of Bellsford, New Hampshire, broke her heart. But now he's back, sending Posey's traitorous schoolgirl heart into overdrive once again. She should be giving him a wide berth, but it seems fate has other ideas.

Review:

Until There Was You was a good read, but something kept it from being amazing. This is the first book I read from this author and I wasn't expecting the humorous read I got. Posey is our amusing heroine. She had a huge crush on Liam since she had first saw him until he broke her heart when she overheard some mean words he said. This was definitely one of those young girl everything is a tragedy type things. When you find out what exactly happens it is just like okay. But I liked her. She has her own company and seems to be a lot of fun. She doesn't have the best self esteem. She is not the most beautiful girl, but she is not hideous either. People have always said horrible things to her and she just puts up with it. You can't help but want her to stand up for herself once and a while. She does have some good friends, and her brother and brother-in-law are great. I did enjoy their interactions.

Liam was the bad boy, until he saw Emma. She was the sweet innocent girl and he fell in love with her quickly. Since this is told from Liam and Posey's point of view you get to see what he thought about everything. Emma is gone, and Liam is a mess. He doesn't really seem ready to move on. He knew Posey had a crush on him in high school, but he never had eyes for anyone but Emma. I thought we would get an interesting story with him. He had a brush with death and since then has been a little crazy with his daughter. He also has a bit of OCD which I thought oh this will be interesting. Let's see how he deals with this and such, but spoiler alert! It just goes away. Too bad as I was looking forward to seeing how he would deal with everything.

When Liam and Posey start dating it is a bit of a disaster, in a fun way. Posey is not sure of herself, and can't believe that THE Liam Murphy would want to go out with her. There are lots of issues, and the ending was nice, but it was missing something for me that would have made it an amazing read. It was good, I enjoyed it and I would read more by this author to see how I enjoy her works overall.
