Something About You by Julie James

Something About You (FBI/U.S. Attorney)

Synopsis:

Fate has thrown two sworn enemies...

Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends with a death. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago—and for nearly ruining his career.

Into each other's arms...

Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. But it's no joke; the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes—and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension.

Review:

I kept hearing about Julie James, but the whole FBI/U.S. Attorney thing was just eh to me. I don't know why but it didn't draw me in. Well one of my fellow book club members recommended her newest book so I thought I would give her a try. I am so glad I did as I really enjoyed Something About You.

Cameron and Jack have a bit of a rocky past. Jack thinks Cameron had him reassigned to Nebraska after he had said some things he instantly regretted to a reporter. Prior to that it seemed like they were getting along pretty well, but since Jack thinks Cameron is the cause of all his problem he doesn't like her very much. She doesn't like him much either since he made a fool of her on national tv.

Now three years later Jack is back and Cameron accidentally gets involved in his investigation. Someone was murdered in the hotel room next to hers and she is the only witness to the killer (who is trying to set up a politician as the murderer). Jack can be intimidation and kind of rough around the edges. He is a sweetheart though when he needs to be. He really watches out for those he cares about and he is just a really great guy. He is the big, tough FBI guy who you don't really want to mess with, but will die trying to protect you.

Cameron is a tough Assistant U.S. Attorney. She really tries to fight hard to put the bad guys away. She was never okay with not prosecuting the case that upset Jack. She never wanted to let that one go. She is great and really tries to be just a good person.

It was really cute seeing the two of them together. It is obvious they both like each other, but because of the past they are both kind of gruff with each other. Everyone else can see that they like each other and give them a hard time about it. Cameron is under protective custody and man...Cameron and Jack are really hot together. It was fun watching them try to fight their attraction because they are supposed to hate each other. It was great watching them come together even before the whole past issues were resolved. It was just a good read. I liked both of the characters and you just are waiting for them to finally realize that they would be perfect for each other. I loved them. I am so glad I gave Julie James a try. Now off to read the rest of her books!
