Never Too Far by Abbi Glines

Never Too Far: A Rosemary Beach Novel (The Rosemary Beach Series)

Synopsis:

Our relationship had been short. Intense and brief. I wondered what it would have felt like to curl up in Rush’s arms anytime I wanted. To know I was safe and that he loved me. We’d never had that chance.

Just when Blaire allowed herself to fall for her stepbrother, Rush, he revealed a life-altering secret so devastating that she couldn’t forgive him. Unable to face him again, Blaire leaves the promise of true love behind in Rosemary Beach and returns to the comforts of her small town in Alabama, wanting nothing more than to put the summer behind her.

But unexpected news complicates Blaire’s plans, and she’s forced to trust the one man she shouldn’t. Trapped between Rush’s fierce desire to win her back and her own sense of self-preservation, Blaire doesn’t know if she’s doing the right thing...or if she’s making the biggest mistake of her life.

Review:

After reading Rush Too Far I thought I need to go back and re-read the next book to remember what happens. It has been a while and while I remember the gist I didn't remember the details. I didn't remember that Never Too Far was written from Rush and Blaire's point of views.

This story starts off where the last one left off. Blaire in Alabama and Rush in Rosemary Beach. Rush is completely crushed by Blaire's leaving him and has just been moping alone in his house ever since. He really is not good. Blaire is not good either, but she has some other issues as well. Good thing for Bethy who saves the day and gets Blaire back in Rosemary Beach. Once she is back Rush is determined to with her back. He needs her.

Blaire is a little...she can be pretty frustrating. It is obvious how much Rush cares about her, but contemplating not telling him about the baby and just leaving? Really Blaire? You think he wouldn't want the baby? You think he would leave you? You think he would choose his mom over you? Can you not understand that he has been looking after Nan since she was born and those ties are not going to sever themselves overnight. He does try to show you how much he cares, though he does make a lot of mistakes. He just doesn't think sometimes, or something seems obvious to him but Blaire doesn't get it. It was a frustrating story at times, but I loved it.

The one thing I wish would have happened? I wish Rush would actually follow through with his threats to his family. They do something bad or talk bad about Blaire and he warns them not to do it again as he controls all the money. Their houses and everything belong to him. But then they do it again and he gets angry and warns them again. I wish he would have really just like given them $10,000 and cut them loose. Like that is it, spend it wisely and figure it out. And the mom? Geez I forgot how horrible she was. With the big reveal at the end...you almost feel bad for Nan. Almost. One thing is for sure - that is one messed up family. Can't wait to read the next one now to finish of the trilogy!
