Play With Me by Piper Shelly

Play With Me (Grover Beach Team #1)

Synopsis:

Ryan Hunter's parties are legend. And tonight she's going to be there.

Liza Matthews anticipates the return of her best friend and only love since kindergarten from soccer camp. But when Tony finally shows up, his mind is more focused on another girl. And worse, she's a soccer player. Fighting for the attention Liza craves, she's just a hairbreadth away from making a very stupid decision. But when extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, she's prepared to play ball to get her man.

The tryouts are hell, the first match ends bloody, and the morning after the selection party she wakes up in the worst place possible—in the arms of the captain of the soccer team. The hottest guy in school. Ryan Hunter.

Review:

Play With Me is a sweet, fun, light-hearted story. It starts off and Liza is oh so in love with Tony, though not really. Really they are best friends since forever and it is like she thinks she should be in love with him. Or she thinks she is, but she really doesn't know any different. He is her best friend so...really they never seem to have more than friendship, which is fine. Enter Ryan and things quickly heat up.

Ryan seems like a nice guy, and he obviously likes Liza. He is so cute with her. This was a shorter story and everything moves pretty quickly, but it wasn't too quickly. It was still more realistic. The characters actually seemed like teenagers. Normally when I read young adult books I make the main characters in their twenties in my head, just because they easily could be. These seemed like teenagers in a good way. It was light and fun and just a matter of time until Liza figures out she doesn't love Tony like that and she gives in to Ryan. Ryan who seems to just work with her. Ryan who has had a crush on her forever. It was a nice story.
